Australia Travel #9 Sydney Opera House
Sydney Opera House and the Final Cruise Dinner
The highlight of my Australia trip had finally arrived —
I stood before the iconic Sydney Opera House, the landmark that instantly comes to mind when we think of Australia.
Seeing it up close felt completely different from viewing it from afar.

Its glossy, shell-like exterior looked as if it had been carefully polished by hand.
It truly felt like encountering a massive piece of art resting beside the sea.
A Moment Captured in Time
Near the Opera House, I spent a moment watching a short time-lapse video.
It reminded me that nature is beautiful not only in a single instant,
but also in the way time flows and changes.
When people, nature, and time come together,
a new kind of harmony appears — one we often miss in everyday life.
The Harbour Bridge and the Blue-Green Sea
Just across the water, the Harbour Bridge created another breathtaking scene.
The sea, the sky, the seagulls, and the bridge blended together in a picture-perfect moment.

For a second, it reminded me of the Gwangandaegyo Bridge in Busan —
each city has its own charm and its own way of touching the heart.

The Opera House and Sydney’s Skyline
Turning toward the city, the skyline added a modern elegance to the scenery.
Tourists around me were quietly soaking in the moment,
their faces filled with the simple happiness that only travel can bring.

I took a few more photos —
from the side, from the back — discovering angles I had never noticed before.
The rear view of the Opera House had its own unique beauty.

Nearby, a couple was taking their wedding photos.
Their laughter and bright expressions made the place feel even more joyful.
I wondered how they might be doing now, a year later.

Final Stop: A Sunset Cruise Dinner
The last experience of the trip was a cruise dinner across Sydney Harbour.
With lingering excitement, I boarded the ship and watched the sun slowly descend behind the city.

From the deck, the Opera House looked completely different —
quiet, gentle, and beautifully lit by the fading daylight.
Not knowing when I’d see it again,
I tried to capture every detail with my eyes, storing the moment deep within my memory.

Sydney Harbour at Night
As night fell, the city lit up.
The skyline sparkled, offering a completely different beauty compared to daytime.
Though I’ve never been to Hong Kong,
I imagined its nightscape might feel something like this.

The Opera House at night was stunning —
subtle, glowing, and more enchanting than during the day.
It felt like a moment that would stay with me for a very long time.

A Beautiful Ending, and a Return to Everyday Life
Every journey must come to an end.
With mixed feelings of gratitude and longing,
I boarded the flight back home.
Returning to Incheon Airport,
it was time to step back into daily life.
But the memories of Sydney remained as vivid as ever.

What Do We Gain From Travel?
Although this trip took place in 2023,
writing about it now feels like experiencing the journey all over again.
It’s amazing how photographs can bring back memories we thought we had forgotten.
What do we really gain from traveling?
Perhaps we discover new worlds —
and in those worlds, we discover ourselves once more.
Thank you for following along on my Australia travel series.
I hope to share another journey from another corner of the world soon.
